Eric Carl published the very Hungry Caterpillar in 1969 and was a favourite of mine as a child and still is for my grand daughter. So I just had to make a Hungry Caterpillar Card for her second birthday, of course!
The designer paper really makes this card.
Expressions in Ink dsp is just so pretty with its mottled watercolour prints, and I knew it would look fabulous as the Caterpillar body.
I just used a Large Oval Punch (retired) but Oval dies would work just as well, for the body and head.
The eyes and nose and legs are from the retired Owl Punch. But again...small circles and little hearts (upside down for the legs) will work well.
I hand cut the antenna.
The Apple is a large circle die (or you can use a punch). I cut out a wave in the top for some shape.
The apple stem and leaves are both hand cut.
The spotty paper is retired but you could substitute or leave out. Looks good either way.
Words are from A Grand kid page 54 Annual Catalogue
Use a small scallop die/punch to 'take a bite' out of the apple inside. For some depth sponge around the edges of the leaves, apple and caterpillar head in the same colour ink as your cardstock used.
I used: Granny Apple Green
Real Red
Poppy Parade
Body : Expressions in Ink designer paper. page 131.Annual Catalogue
Have a great week. Vx
