Butterfly spotting and a walk along the river.

Would you like to see photos of the giant butterfly I spotted in my garden the other week.
Come and take a look....
There it is....Stay still and I will try and get a closer look for you.... hehe.
What do you think of this?
I used Deb Blake's technique with the Swallowtail Butterfly Stamp.p.71 of the catalogue.
Stamp in Staz On onto acetate. Cut out butterfly shape. Then paint with a mixture of crystal effects and your choice of ink. Leave time between each colour to dry. Sprinkle with dazzling diamonds and add more crystal effects then another layer of acetate. Leave to dry completely overnight. Cut around butterfly. Punch two holes and thread some florist wire through the body. Bind two wires together with florist tape to finish off.
Now you have a flower pot decoration.

Sunday Walk.
My husband and I love to go for a walk if we can most weekends. Often at Kangaroo Point which is on the other side of Brisbane City Centre.
It was such a glorious August day on Sunday I thought I would take some photos and then you could come for the walk with us!
This is the top of the stairs we walk down to get to the bottom of the cliffs. Are you ready? That is Southbank in the distance. We could walk that way but I think we will turn right and walk towards the harbour today. What do you think?

Yes these are the stairs you have just come down! (that is my husband halfway up). He is a slow coach!
Look up at the cliffs and you might see an abseiler or two. Hang on to that rope!!
Now for the walk along the river. There are lots of Ferry terminals dotted along the front.
See the city is just on the other side.
Now we walk under the Story Bridge. (fun fact: my grandfather was a Painter and helped to paint this bridge back when it was built.) Obviously I didn't inherit his head for heights! Yikes! I don't like standing on the second rung of a ladder! hehe.
On July 6th, 1940 Brisbane's Story Bridge opened for operation. It took five years to construct and a river crossing near Kangaroo Point had first been recommended 14 years before the bridge was finally completed. One of the major reasons for building the Story Bridge was actually employment. During the Great Depression, the construction effort provided years of employment for many men as one of the then governments' three public works projects.
The Story Bridge is the largest steel bridge designed, fabricated and constructed in Australia by Australians.

Now we will walk past that little boat harbour down there.
Nestled amongst all the million dollar vessels is this little gem. Love the pot plants on the roof.
Now it is time to turn around an walk all the way back.
Hope you're not too tired out.

That was fun. I am so glad you could come for a walk with me!

Thanks for stopping by today. Come back again soon. Vx

  3. Hey Vicki, OMG I want so come over and visit if I win the lottery. LOL! Beautiful city and thank you for the tour. Your butterfly is awesome. Yes, I am planning on moving and starting to look when I get the money from my house which is a whole another story. I have done that waterfall technique a long time ago. I love them though. Yours are darling too. I just slept 11 hours. That coffee still tastes great this morning. Wow a coffee meeting. I wish we were neighbors. Have a lovely day. I think I will have some time to stamp today. Hugs, Bev
